On the way to heaven... OLKHON ISLAND

Right after the 55 hours trip we took a bus for 9 hours! For 3-4 hours there was a paved road, afterwards no... pure land... amazing landscape...

Here is the itinerary:
by the way Lake Baikal is the second biggest lake on Earth. But it is the deepest lake. It is so deep that at some parts no ships are going!
A lot of non-salty water. And so pure that it is possible to drink.
But it is really really cold... even in the summer...

So on the way from Irkutsk to Olkhon Island:

We stopped for lunch to eat in a buffet... well, not that I trust the food there, but the taste was ok. We also saw some cows on the road:

a petrol station there... petrol is half the price in Russia than in Hungary!

then we continued our way to Olkhon:





The moment when we had the first glimpse of Lake Baikal:
then we had to take a ferry to the island




then we still took the bus on the island to reach our accomodation... (2 hours ride on the island by bus)

This is the one and only road... at this part of the island is still good quality!!!
Electricity was taken to the island April 2009, a few months before us!



Then for the sunrise we arrived to our final destination... heaven...
